openSUSE, being an open and global community project, has contributors and volunteers from all over the world. "openSUSE Members" are contributors who have brought a continued and substantial contribution to the openSUSE project. They are approved by the openSUSE Membership officials team. The membership helps shape the openSUSE future and elects the openSUSE board.

How to become a Member

openSUSE is shaped by whomever contributes. If you are involved and want to make even more of a difference, you should become a member. Your involvement will be checked by the openSUSE Membership officials team.

Please note that you don't have to be a member to contribute to openSUSE. It is important that the membership consists of those who help out and add to openSUSE in a wide variety of ways to represent the community as well as possible.

Detailed steps to follow

Προσοχή Please ensure to contribute first to the openSUSE Project then apply for membership. If you want to get involved, the first step is to visit this wiki page

To apply for an openSUSE membership, head over to Connect and follow those steps:

  1. login :-)
  2. mention your contributions in your profile (click on your login in the navigation bar, and then the "Edit profile" button on the left bar; the contributions field is at the end)
  3. request to join the openSUSE members group (click the "Request membership" button)

Hint: register your nick first at freenode to ensure you can receive an @opensuse/member/username IRC cloak!

Προσοχή Please list what you do for openSUSE in detail (add links!). Contributions that cannot be verified can not be taken into account.

Please ensure that you have also joined the openSUSE geekos group to show your support of the Guiding principles. Note that we search for people with a serious commitment as members - if you intend to only be involved for a short time there is little reason to become an openSUSE Member.
